Cat-Tree was created for 9 Lives in 2017, a unique design event where 9 designers (lives) express their take on furniture design for cats in urban, compact living spaces. It aims to showcase how good design can improve experiences and cultivate a deeper appreciation for quality design.

Residents at void decks and open spaces enjoying the melodies of their pet birds are a common sight in local neighbourhoods. Like prized birds, humans and cats delight in each other’s’ physical presence and share a great capacity for affection. Inspired by these memories, communal spaces and our connection with cats, Cat Tree creates a fun space for co-existence between human and cat whilst playing on the reversal of roles traditionally seen between cat and bird.

Cat-Tree design is scalable into other home furniture series with the approach of designing for co-existence with cats! 

With help and successful funding, we will continue venturing into the production of our family of co-existance designs.

Once we successfully reach our goal of SGD 80,000 , these funds will be used to cover design production on a much larger scale, alongside assembly, packaging, shipping and distribution to your doors (and cats). They also provide for the many hardworking, sweat-dripping designers and production team working behind the project!  5% of each cat tree sold will be contributed to www.catwelfaresociety.org, an animal welfare organisation based in Singapore providing much needed assistance to local street cats.

We need the critical mass and minimum quantity to commercialise the pieces, although our manufacturing partners have kindly agreed to reduced minimum orders, the number of pieces that needs to be ordered upfront is still a challenge for us to fufill on our own as a small design consultancy with limited financial resources.
